Parental involvement is a critical part of psychotherapy for the child.

I meet with parents on a regular basis in order to refine the goals of treatment and to learn about the child's behavior at home and school.  A child's problems can arise from several sources including home life, difficulties with peers, medical illness, and special demands specific to the child's age.  Developmental problems such as ADHD and learning disability may underlie or compound a child's emotional difficulties.

I advise parents when consultation with other kinds of professionals might be helpful.
